Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break down the reasons against supporting President Obama’s push for the Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP. Even if the U.S. and 11 countries have reached a deal, Uygur and Kasparian argue that it still lacks transparency.
Uygur explains that it’s kept a secret so people can’t ‘nitpick’ it. This deal can change industries and could affect other countries. “You would think that if this news indicates that they’ve come up with a deal and they’re going to go for it aggressively, shouldn’t citizens know something about it?” Kasparian points out. Uygur adds, “We live in a democracy. If our representatives don’t know what’s in the deal, who the hell does know…corporations.” He criticizes the involvement and influence of corporations while other representatives are left in the dust with the details.
