Does the Prime Minister of Pakistan deserve a Nobel Peace Prize?
By Prof. Engr. Zamir Ahmed Awan
Former judge of the Supreme Court of India had recommended the “Nobel Peace Prize” for Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan. In fact, Imran Khan has emerged as a visionary leader after the engineered incident of “Pulwama” in February 2019. India staged this drama to blame Pakistan for surgical strikes. Instead of investigation and compiling the evidence of the incident, Indian Prime Minster started blaming Pakistan and warned Pakistan of surgical strikes.
On 25 February, two Indian air force fighter jets entered into Pakistan and drooped bombs deep inside Pakistan, violating all norms of the civilized world and UN Charter. The tension between the two countries rose to peak and clouds of war were dense and very close to a full-fledged war.
Pakistan, under the great leadership of PM Imran Khan, realized the consequences and formulated a strategy to avert any big disaster. As both, India and Pakistan, are nuclear states and in case of any escalation, things may not be limited to border areas or conventional war only. There were possibilities of nuclear war, and not only limited to India and Pakistan. There were possibilities of the spread of nuclear war to neighboring nations or even to World War III.
This region is a highly populated area on the earth. India a population of 1.2 Billion, China with a population of 1.4Billion, Pakistan with a population of 220 Million, Bangladesh with a population of 250 Million, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, etc many countries in the close vicinity of India-Pakistan may be direct victim of nuclear disaster, but other countries in the region may also be affected.
After realizing this big disaster to humanity, Pakistan decided to respond to India in a very smart and precise manner. Pakistan released an arrested pilot of the Indian air force and managed to convey a soft message to Indian successfully. The war cloud s were dispersed immediately. The world has recognized Pakistan as a peace-loving nation and a very responsible state. Since them, World opinion is changed and has rejected Indian propaganda to isolate Pakistan and projecting Pakistan as a terrorist and failure country.
But India kept on its agenda against Pakistan and surprised the whole world on the 5th of August, by sending its fresh troops into the disputed territory of Kashmir. Imposed curfew and arrested leadership of Kashmir, detained outnumbered Kashmiris, killing, torturing, rape, harassment cases are beyond counting too. India has cut-off Kashmir from the rest of the world, by suspending mobile phone, internet services. All foreigners and visitors were evacuated and media was curbed to report the ground realities. Hospitals have been turned as graveyards. Lack of food, electricity, fuel due to curfew has aggregated difficulties for the local people. No electricity and clean drinking water and sanitation services have increased the suffering of residents.
Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote an article in the “New York Times” on 30 August 2019, which is worth reading. He has appealed to the international community to act, and act immediately to remove the nuclear war between India and Pakistan. It is expected that all peace-loving nations and individuals’ will exert pressure to all concerned quarters to act and act swiftly to avert any big disaster to humanity.
Pakistan has been recognized as a Peace-Loving nation and Responsible state. PM Imran Khan has been recognized as a visionary leader. He deserves the “Nobel Peace Prize”. The international community has opinion identical to Pakistan’s narrative and has rejected the Indian propaganda.
Whether PM Imran Khan gets Nobel Peace Prize or not, it is secondary importance, let the proper platform decides. But it is appealed that the international community must keep aside economic interests or their market share in India, and act immediately to avert any misadventure by India leading toward “Nuclear Disaster”.
