Shaikh Mohammad and Georgian PM discuss ways to expand cooperation
Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday received at Zabeel Palace Irakli Garibashvili, Georgia’s Prime Minister.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.
During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad and Garibashvili discussed ways to expand avenues of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of joint investments. They also spoke about the political situation in Caucasus, as Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Garibashvili on latest developments in Georgia in general, and Caucasus in particular.
Garibashvili said that his country welcomes Emirati investments, and briefed Shaikh Mohammad on investment opportunities in Georgia, such as in the mineral, water and tourism sectors. He stressed his country’s desire to attract Emirati investors in order to build a feasible investment partnership that will benefit both parties.
Garibashvili also reaffirmed the importance of developing the civil aviation sector between the two countries, in light of Fly Dubai flying five times a week to Tbilisi. He expressed his desire for an increase in the number of weekly flights in order to bring the peoples of both nations closer together, especially in the areas of economy, culture and tourism.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Garibashvili’s proposal to set up a joint investment base, and said that UAE is always keen on building strong relations that are based on mutual benefit and trust with various countries and peoples, especially on the private sector level, which plays a key and effective role in the UAE’s and the international economy.
